The Human Resources and Nominating Ministry Support Team has responded to the GLAD Council request to suggest and recommend names to replace two vacancies on the GLAD Council. The persons suggested by the team are Casey Williams and Steven Baines. Both of these individuals, as called for in our Design and Covenant, have now been elected by the GLAD Council to serve the two un-expired three-year terms.
Casey is a young woman who is currently in seminary in Berkley, CA. She attended the Des Moines event this past summer and is excited about serving on the Council.
Steven, who was our keynoter at the Des Moines event, is from Washington DC, is a clergy person currently serving as Senior Organizer for Religious Affairs for People for the American Way.
Both of these individuals have many leadership and organizational skills and we are thrilled that they have accepted the nominations and have been approved by the Council to serve for the coming three years.
The Human Resources and Nominating Ministry Support Team will be meeting via a conference call very soon. One of the projects they are currently working on is a "skill set" to be completed by all GLAD members. We will use this to request a list from each GLAD member of the skills that they are willing to share with GLAD. This will be a very specific way to receive information from individuals about the skills they possess, rather than simply asking persons to indicate an interest in serving on one of the Ministry Teams.
The HR&N Team follows up when you express interest in a GLAD ministry team, and will soon be working to prepare nominations for the next General Assembly GLAD Event to be held in Portland, OR.
