Tapestry 2006 Registration now On-line

Tapestry 2006: Live, Love, Laugh and Lead, a joint gathering of people from the welcoming programs of Baptists, the Disciples of Christ and the United Church of Christ, will be held June 26-29, 2006 at the University of Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Indiana. Each day of the gathering will have a theme, uplifting the empowering aspects of what it is to be a person of faith in an affirming Christian community. Each day will include a keynote speaker, worship and opportunity for group discussion and meditation.

The sponsoring organizations are The Association of Welcoming & Affirming Baptists (AWAB), The Gay Lesbian and Affirming Disciples Alliance (GLAD), and The United Church of Christ Coalition for LGBT Concerns (The Coalition). These organizations are made up of LGBT and affirming people, churches and organizations. The Tapestry group came about as a way to build on ministries of inclusion that the Alliance of Baptists, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ.

Speakers for Tapestry are drawn from the three sponsoring faith traditions. The DIsciples' own Rita Nakashima Brock will preach on Monday night. Other preachers include Oby Ballinger from the UCC and Kenneth Samual from the Baptist churches.  We will also hear from Harry Knox from the Human Rights Campaign. 

Others include Susan Sparks, preacher and comedian; Andra Moran, musician and choir leader; and singer-song writers Susan Drake and Julie Jennings.

The University of Indianapolis, UINDY, is a newly renovated campus in the heart of the city. The buildings being used on campus are clustered together, with meeting locations and lodging air-conditioned and handicap accessible.

Registration for Tapestry is $124. If you register early - by April 15 - registration is $99.  Late registration - after May 30 - is $150.  Shared rooms are available for $75 and single rooms for $120.  Meals are $60.
