Marriage Equality Colloquies in Washington

Would you like to discuss theological, biblical and pastoral issues surrounding same-sex marriage? Would you like to hear a theologian and biblical scholar discuss the interpretation of scripture and apply this to same-sex marriage? Would you like resources to use in engaging members of your congregation in discussions of same-sex marriage?

In Washington, The Religious Coalition for Equality is organizing marriage equality colloquies around the state in late October and early November titled “Scripture and Marriage Equality: An in depth look at how we interpret Jewish and Christian Scripture in the context of same-sex marriage.” The colloquies will include a presentation by a biblical scholar and theologian on scriptural interpretational plus conversation with same-sex couples, educational resources supporting same-sex marriage for work within your congregation and in the community at large, and discussion opportunities. No public statement will be released and no group consensus will be sought.

Speakers will include: Rev. Dr. Lisa Wilson Davison, Professor of Old Testament at Lexington Theological Seminary, who will address the colloquies on October 26th, 27th, and 30th in Kennewick, Spokane and Everett and The Rev. Dr Jay Johnson, Professor of Theology, Pacific School of Religion, who will address the colloquies on November 8th, 9th, and 10th in Seattle, Olympia and Vancouver. The only charge for attending a colloquy is $7.50 for lunch.

The colloquies will start with a continental breakfast and registration from 8:00 to 8:45 and will end at 4:15.
