Regional Trainings Begin in February in Minneapolis

- this article is from Anita Bradshaw, who is working with our Open & Affirming Ministry Team and several other Welcoming Ministries as National Field Organizer

February in Minneapolis may sound like a terribly cold place to be, but if you are participating in the National Field Organizing Project’s first training “Towards a Welcoming and Inclusive Church,” you will find warmth for your heart and spirit! egional trainings designed to build capacities in congregations to more effectively move towards being a welcoming church to lgbt folk will launch on February 15 to 18, 2008 on President’s Day Weekend at Mayflower UCC in South Minneapolis.

The traiThe training will teach congregational leaders (lay and ordained), denominational staff and leaders, and anyone else interested skills in addressing conflict, change in congregations, public storytelling, organizing skills and strategies, and building a positive theology of inclusion are among the topics we will cover. The workshop allows time for denominational group gatherings to strategize and plan for action after the workshop. We will worship together and build relationships to support one another in the work of building a more inclusive church.

If Minneapolis sounds just to cold, there are other trainings being scheduled in North Carolina April 24 to 27 and in Southern California on June 5 to 8. Others will be scheduled for the fall in Indiana and the Washington, D.C. areas.

Come join in the movement for faithfulness through inclusion, justice and welcoming!
